Playboy is a name that almost everyone in the world probably knows, at least everyone interested in glamorous nude women. The company is a pioneer and has been around since 1953, although the current site, Playboy Plus, was launched in 2002. Apparently, Playboy has no difficulty in finding beautiful girls to pose and to play and there are also some celebrity surprises inside this site.
There seems to be quite a few Playboy sites around, so the question is, what makes this one different than the others? I suppose I'd have to see them all back to back to really give you a better idea, but it looks like this one delivers more in the way of exclusive and video content. There are two page-top menus inside the members' area. One, which isn't highlighted until you run your cursor over the items, appears to offer content from Playboy itself, while the PlayboyPlus or 'elite' menu bar gives members the aforementioned 'more' content. The videos and photos appear to be different, not in style, but rather when it comes to models. Both sections offer extensive search features and once you get your bearings - because the amount of content is a bit overwhelming - you shouldn't have difficulty browsing all the areas of the site.
You will be blown away by how much content you get from this membership. From the Playboy menu there are 1323 videos, 5520 pictorials and this hardly covers the other areas which include the 'Playground'. This section is bubbling over with Cybergirl interviews, movie, music and TV reviews, there is coverage on Mansion parties. Club and special events, lifestyle and advice columns, sports coverage, news and so much more that I can't possibly list everything. There is also the 'World of Playboy' section with segments like Hef's World, PlayboyTV and Playboy Mobile and, of course, the Magazine section includes highlights from the current or upcoming print edition of Playboy. This, apparently, is all just bonus stuff for members since the elite content of PlayboyPlus has a separate menu.
PlayboyPlus features several video categories. There are 3934 videos. These can be sorted by types of models, which include Playmates, celebrities, Cybergirls, international, coeds and amateurs, for example. There are behind-the-scenes movies, interviews and sexy tease videos that are overlaid with music tracks. As I expected, being familiar with Playboy, the content is largely softcore nude and tease done in the familiar, tasteful glamour style. The films are roughly five-minutes long. There is a fairly good selection of download qualities, but MP4 is the only format. This shouldn't bother too many individuals since it seems to be the standard these days and most new televisions will play these files. Qualities include those for PSP, there is a 360p, 720p and the best HD version is 1920x1080p. Flash streams are also available and these are large and decent quality, although they do play automatically and I had some trouble keeping them paused so I could explore the page. In any case, the videography is sensual in those striptease scenes and the interviews and backstage flicks are great for those obsessed with models or with what happens behind-the-scenes of a shoot.
Photo galleries can also be sorted by types of babes. There are 6271 sets. I loved the new and specifically the retro pictorials and found myself personally thrilled by the Playmate sets of Sally Todd from 1957, Stella Stevens (who knew she even did a Playboy shoot) from '69, Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe and many more surprises like Barbi Benton. Vintage fans will love how many older Playmate sets exist here, but there are plenty of new ones to feast your eyes on, as well and some gorgeous natural beauties like amateur Jayden Marie, Playmate Pamela Horton and celebrities like Teri Polo, again another who knew moment for me. I really found myself loving the galleries more than anything and while there is a consistently fabulous look to all the pictures, the shoots have been photographed by a lot of different and talented people with styles all their own. Slideshow pictures are sized to fit your screen for a great handsfree experience, but you can enlarge them to 1920x1280 and they are all super sharp. There are also Zip files.
Final Verdict
For members wanting a bit more sex, Playboy Plus directs you to a partnered DVD site and to live cams and there is also a small selection of free Playboy.tv videos available at no extra charge. However, the main reason you'll want this membership is because you are either a fan of all things Playboy, or you are just a fan of gorgeous women and sexy softcore content. There are thousands upon thousands of photos and videos, there are articles, reviews and loads more. I went into PlayboyPlus thinking I wasn't really going to have all that much fun, but I came out thrilled by how much is offered, excited by all the vintage (especially the vintage) and contemporary photo sets, and just completely satisfied by the overall experience offered.
